Life Outside the Studio
So, it's been a couple of weeks. I took some time off from blogging and painting so my husband and I could do some work on the house. We're about to get a new metal roof and we had to completely refinish our chimney before the roof get's put on. That involved relining the flue, chipping away at bricks inside the fireplace so the flue could get through, and hauling buckets of cement up a ladder so my husband could refinish the chimney crown. Like, 240lbs of cement in 20-40lb increments. Every muscle in my body was sore after that and I think I may have gained 1/2 inch on my biceps. We also started doing a mortar wash over our bricks, which I think is going to look amazing when it's finished.
In addition to working on our house, my mom came to visit for a few days. I havent seen her since we went back home to Louisiana for Christmas. She and I took my kiddos to the Zoo and they had a blast. I think my favorite was the cage of budgies. There were budgies everywhere and they were very interested in my feet. I had about 10 budgies surround me and start licking my ankles and nibbling at my shoes. It was a foot licking frenzy!
I've had a couple of days of recovery and I've finally gotten back into the studio to do some painting. I'll be posting some Octo progress soon, but in the meantime, here are some zoo pics.
